Lourdes Central School organizes awareness programme for students of class V, VI

Mangaluru, Aug 4: Lourdes Central School in collaboration with the department of periodontology at Manipal College of Dental Sciences organized a comprehensive awareness programme for the students of class V and VI on August 1 to commemorate Oral Hygiene Day. The programme aimed to promote healthy smiles and informed decision making among students, highlighting the importance of brushing, flossing and a balanced diet in maintaining optimal oral health.

The programme began with a welcome speech delivered by Suneetha K the academic coordinator for class III to VI. The teacher extended a warm welcome to the esteemed doctors from the department of periodontology, Manipal College of Dental Science. The esteemed doctors, addressing the audience, eloquently emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining good oral health.

They explained that beyond a confident smile, proper oral hygiene is a critical gateway to overall well-being, highlighting its significant impact on preventing systemic diseases and enhancing quality of life. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are not merely about preventing cavities, but serve as fundamental pillars for a healthier body and a life free from unnecessary pain and discomfort.

The elocution competition for classes V and VI commenced with esteemed judges Deepa G Kamath and David who brought their expertise to the event. Following a clear explanation of the rules the competition got underway showcasing the talents and skills of the participating students. Following the elocution competition the interns from Manipal College of Dental Science captivated the audience with an engaging role play ‘The Battle of Germs’.

This entertaining and informative presentation effectively promotes good oral hygiene practices, educating the students on the importance of maintaining a healthy smile. After the elocution competition Fr Johnson L Sequeira, principal joined the event and along with Mranali K S and Dr Sangeetha presented awards to the winners. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Seema Lobo. To commemorate the successful celebration of Oral Health Day, each student was gifted a hamper, serving as a reminder of the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene.
