US bride's wedding snub sparks HR drama at workplace

Washington, Aug 6: In a bizarre workplace incident from the United States, a woman has claimed that a co-worker filed a Human Resources (HR) complaint against her for not being invited to her wedding — accusing her of "creating a hostile environment."

The bride, who shared her experience on Reddit, said she and the co-worker were only casually acquainted, with no personal friendship or social connection outside of work. When the colleague directly asked if she was invited to the wedding, the bride explained it was a "really small" ceremony meant only for close friends and family.

However, things took an unexpected turn when the co-worker, upset over the perceived slight, lodged a formal HR complaint. “I was shocked when I got a meeting invite from HR,” wrote the bride. The complaint alleged "exclusivity" and workplace hostility due to the non-invitation.

HR officials reviewed the matter and ultimately sided with the bride, stating that wedding guest lists are personal decisions and beyond the purview of company policy.

Despite the resolution, tensions have persisted. The bride claimed her co-worker now behaves passive-aggressively, making snide remarks and sarcastic comments. "She keeps saying things like, ‘Some people are so inclusive these days,’” the Redditor shared.

The post has since gone viral, garnering widespread support for the bride. Online users criticised the co-worker’s actions, with many calling her behavior unprofessional and delusional. Some even suggested the bride file a counter-complaint for harassment.

The incident has sparked online debates about boundaries between personal life and professional spaces, with many reaffirming that weddings are private events — not office obligations.
