New Delhi, Aug 13: Non-scheduled flights will not be allowed to land or take off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport during specified hours on August 15, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The restrictions will be in force from 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 7 pm on Independence Day, applicable to non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines as well as chartered aircraft. Scheduled commercial flight operations will remain unaffected.

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued by the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) under the Airports Authority of India (AAI) stated that exemptions will apply to aircraft operated by the IAF, BSF, and Army aviation helicopters, as well as state-owned aircraft flying Governors or Chief Ministers, and flights on emergency or medical evacuation missions.

The IGI Airport, the busiest in the country, handles around 1,300 flight movements daily.
