Balasore, Aug 27: In a shocking case, a 23-year-old woman from Balasore district has alleged that she was abducted and subjected to gang rape and torture for nearly six months before managing to escape.
According to police, the survivor lodged a complaint on Tuesday at Bhograi police station, stating that she was abducted in March by a man from her locality and confined in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district. During this period, she was repeatedly raped by multiple persons and physically assaulted.

Inspector-in-Charge of Bhograi police station, Rohit Kumar Bal, informed that the woman’s mother had earlier lodged a complaint on March 3, reporting that her daughter had run away with a man and also taken gold ornaments worth over Rs 3 lakh. Based on that complaint, a case had been registered.
After escaping captivity, the woman approached the police and narrated her ordeal. She has been shifted to a rehabilitation centre in Balasore and underwent a medical examination on Wednesday.
Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused persons involved in the crime.
