Rain damages houses in Udupi district

Udupi, Sep 4: Continuous rains in the district have caused partial damage to three houses, resulting in losses estimated at over Rs 2 lac.

In Mattu village of Kaup taluk, the wall of Sheen’s house partially collapsed, with losses estimated at more than Rs 1 lac. In Kandavara village of Kundapur taluk, the house of Sanna Devadiga sustained damage due to heavy rain and wind, causing losses of over Rs 70,000.

In Ajri village of Kundapur taluk, the house of Rajeev Shetty was also partially damaged by the rain.

As of 8:30 am on September 3, the district recorded an average rainfall of 44.4 mm in the last 24 hours. Byndoor received the highest rainfall at 75.6 mm, followed by Hebri with 64 mm, Kundapur 45.9 mm, Karkala 33.7 mm, Brahmavar 25.1 mm, Udupi 22.6 mm, and Kaup 16.5 mm.
