Moodbidri: Photographer arrested for cheating young woman on marriage promise

Moodbidri, Sep 12: A case has been registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against a local photographer from Moodbidri for allegedly cheating a Dalit woman from Udupi after promising to marry her.

The accused has been identified as Sanketh Ganiga (31), originally from Bedrody in Uppinangady and currently residing in a rented house at Kallabettu, Moodbidri.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, she came in contact with the accused through Instagram, and the two gradually developed a close relationship. The accused allegedly established physical relations with her under the false assurance of marriage. However, later he reportedly refused to marry her, citing caste as an excuse.

Following the complaint, Moodbidri police inspector Sandesh P G registered a case and arrested the accused.
