Mangaluru, Sep 26: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) belongs to a network of educational institutions administered by the members of the Society of Jesus, a religious order which runs schools, colleges and universities in more than 105 countries in the world. The focus of Jesuit education has always been and will ever continue to be academic excellence and development of the integral personality of the students.
It offers a wide range of scholarships, including endowed/special scholarships instituted by donors and retired staff members for academically and financially deserving students. The college also offers financial assistance for students from economically weaker sections. Merit-based scholarships are provided to the students excelling in academics, sports and arts.


















Recent endowed/special scholarships distributed by university
Vidwath Spoorthi scholarship worth Rs 19,90,000 was provided to 333 students. Kreeda Spoorthi Scholarship worth Rs 7,15,500 was provided to 58 students. Dr Errol Pinto, paediatrician, was the chief guest and distributed these scholarships.
Vidya Spoorthi scholarship was provided to 482 needy/deserving students. Dr Rohan Monteiro, proprietor of Rohan Corporation, Mangaluru, was the chief guest and distributed the scholarships.
SAFAL scholarship instituted by various donors was distributed to 354 deserving students. Vincent Cutinha, proprietor of Ideal Chicken, Mangaluru was the chief guest and distributed the scholarships.
Overall, a total sum of Rs 1,04,11,900, was distributed to the students. Out of which Rs 49,73,400 was received from the donors and Rs 54,38,500 was the management’s contribution.
Dr Praveen Martis, SJ, VC of St Aloysius University presided over the programme. Fr Melwin J Pinto, rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Vishwas Misquith, SJ, finance officer of the University, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, the registrar of the college, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar of the University, Dr Charles V Furtado, director of Admin Block and Shanthi Lobo, chair of public relations were on the dais.
