Mangaluru, Feb 16: Carmel Central School, Kotekar observed Traffic Day on February 14 in the School Auditorium with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility. Though the official observance of Traffic Day falls on a different date, the school celebrated it subsequently to reinforce the importance of road safety among students.
The programme was graced by the esteemed presence of the chief guest, Nazma Farooqi, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), Traffic Subdivision, Mangaluru, along with principal Sr Pramila AC, administrator Sr Juliann AC, and vice principal Sr Anitha AC.
The programme was gracefully compered by Sara Hunaina, Moullya, Ayesha Shazneen, and Sathvik, who guided the audience through the meaningful celebration. The event began with a solemn prayer service seeking God’s blessings for safety and protection on the roads. This was followed by a vibrant welcome Dance that beautifully conveyed the message of discipline and road awareness.
Janvi delivered the welcome speech, warmly greeting the dignitaries and the gathering. The introduction of the chief guest was thoughtfully presented by Tr Saritha, who highlighted her achievements and dedicated service in the field of traffic management.
Ramtej spoke on the significance of Traffic Day, clearly explaining the importance of following traffic rules and how they safeguard lives. A powerful traffic awareness skit presented by the students portrayed the consequences of negligence and emphasized responsible behaviour on the road. The message was further reinforced through an energetic dance performance reflecting awareness and enthusiasm.
In her inspiring address, Nazma Farooqi emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts at all times. She reminded students to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers and to encourage their parents to do the same. She also stressed that small children travelling on two-wheelers must sit properly and hold the rider firmly for safety.
Highlighting auto-rickshaw safety, she clearly stated that an auto should carry only up to five students; children must not sit in the front or on the driver’s lap; and drivers must strictly adhere to traffic regulations. She further motivated students, especially girls, explaining that determination, courage, and dedication are essential qualities to become successful police officers. Her words encouraged students to be disciplined, confident, and responsible citizens.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Sara Hunaina and Kashvik, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, management, teachers, and students for making the celebration meaningful and successful.
The Traffic Day celebration effectively conveyed that safety does not happen by accident but through awareness, responsibility, and strict adherence to traffic rules. The event ended with a renewed commitment among students to ensure safety for themselves and others while travelling.
