Bangalore: Karnataka Porngate Ministers Now Face Police Probe

Bangalore, Feb 13 (IANS): A Bangalore court Monday ordered police to probe Karnataka's three sleeze watching ministers on charges of transmitting and viewing porn films.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kiran Kheny directed the state police to complete the probe against Laxman Savadi, C.C. Patil and J. Krishna Palemar by Feb 27.

The probe will be conducted by Vidhana Soudha or the state secretariat police. The assembly is housed in the Vidhana Soudha.

Savadi and Patil watched the porn clip in the assembly on the cell phone belonging to Palemar last Tuesday. They resigned from the ministry Wednesday following a public outcry.

Kehny's order came on a complaint by Bangalore advocate Dharmpal Gowda that Savadi, Patil and Palemar had violated laws prohibiting transmission and viewing of obscene films.

Gowda told reporters that he had filed the complaint under sections 292 and 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Section 292 prohibits production/printing, sale, hire, distribution and public exhibition of obscene material. Section 294 deals with obscene acts or singing/uttering obscene songs/words.

Gowda said police had the option of registering an FIR or First Information Report marking the formal beginning of the probe or investigating without formal registration of a complaint.

In related developments, assembly Speaker K.G. Bopaiah Monday gave Savadi, Patil and Palemar time till Feb 19 to reply to his notice seeking explanation for their conduct. The three were to give the reply Monday.

Let us not say that whatever they did was OK because it happens everywhere in India and also abroad like US. Yes, President Clinton did what he was not supposed to do. But he was tried (impeachment) and was found not guilty. But what he did was wrong. But again, he was the most successful US President in recent times improving US economy beyond limits and having incredible amount of surplus which became later under his successor an incredible amount of debt. Even now he is involved in humanitarian projects worth billions of dollars. He was never involved in corruption. People forgive for some mistakes if you have achieved great heights in improving their quality of life. This should also be true for our politicians. If only they would have enabled Karnataka's economy and quality of life to flourish then people of the state may have some empathy for their personal mistakes.

Good that BJP government ordered probe against is own members. Look at Congress in Rajastan and other states. SC had to tell them to start the enquiry. Rajastan Congress government started enquiry after Bhanvari Devi Nurse is disappeared more than 3 months and Minister was happily enjoying power. After SC asked to hand over the case to CBI (that too after 4 months) they ordered the enquiry.

Lexy Saldanha, Mangaluru- Sydney- Australia, I agree with you. Bill Clinton had sex with his intern but he agreed, acceped and was pardoned. But our heroes even after doing it, I mean watching porn in assembly do not have the guts or dignity to admit it. They claim to be innocent in spite of being caught red handed. What else can you expect from these corrupt ministers???

Mr. Savadi, Mr. C.C. Patil have done a mistake of watching phonographic clips in the assembly, although as per the media, clip was sent by Mr. Palemar (i don't know how far its true)
This is common practice in modern Indian parliament & Vidhana sabha, most of the MP,s & MLA's belonging to Congress, BJP, SP, JD(s) and other parties have done it, but never got caught. Many government officers, private sector employees, students and adults so on do these all the time, but i guess this has been dragged as a big political issue.

Guys remember what Former US president Mr. Bill Clinton did it in Oval office (not porn but sex), that was worst than this, but still he was clean and never lost his job, whether India or abroad, these things happen.
The 3 ministers have taken moral responsibility and resigned, accepted their mistake, what more do you want, crucify them, the terrorist Kasab is getting lavish treatment, we don't condemn him nore people who have done worst thing than this.
To make matter very clear, we don't support these ministers neither support their act, bottom line is, i'm sure they have learn't their lesson, which cost them the job.

This is just an eyewash quoting the sections, provisions etc. Karnataka Police are proven to be puppets in the hands of politicians like Yeddy or anyone in power for that matter. Finally the outcome is nothing or as already planned by the state BJP leadership. Most probably all will be d innocent as there was "insufficient evidence to prove them guilty"
