Beltangady: Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar organises Talents Day 2025

Beltangady, Oct 15: Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar, was filled with enthusiasm and creativity as the Students’ Welfare Council organised Talents Day 2025, a day dedicated to celebrating student talent and cultural expression.

The event began with a welcome address by Prof Prakash Kramadhary, student welfare officer, who set the tone for the day. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Duggappa Poojary Kajekar, professor of Sociology at P Satheesha Pai Government First Grade College, Mangaluru. He encouraged students to nurture creativity alongside academics.

Principal Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira appreciated the Students’ Welfare Council for its effective organization, while Dr Stany Goveas, correspondent of Sacred Heart Educational Institutions, presided over the function and emphasised the importance of cultural activities in holistic education.

Students from nine classes participated in various competitions, including singing, dance, skit, folk performance, and compering, showcasing their diverse skills and enthusiasm. Dr Duggappa Poojary Kajekar, Dr Chandrashekhar Mayya, and Sairoopa, research scholar at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru served as judges for the event.

The valedictory and prize distribution ceremony, held in the evening, featured Dr Chandrashekhar Mayya, head of the Department of Sociology at Alvas College, Moodbidri, as the chief guest. He congratulated the winners and motivated students to continue exploring their talents.

The rolling shield for overall championship was won by III BCA, while MCom secured the runner-up position.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ishwar Gowda, head of the Department of Commerce.

The programme was compered by Rajeshwari, head of the Department of Kannada, and Bhagyashree from the Department of History.

The event concluded with appreciation for the Students’ Welfare Council, faculty, and students whose collective efforts made Talents Day 2025 a grand success.
