MNS workers assault salon owner in Navi Mumbai over salary dispute

Mumbai, Oct 17: Tension gripped Navi Mumbai’s Kamothe area after workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) allegedly thrashed a salon owner over claims that he had verbally abused a woman employee. A video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the man being beaten by a group of men inside the salon.

According to reports, the woman had been employed at the salon for several months but had not been paid her salary despite repeated requests. Frustrated, she approached local MNS members seeking help. Acting on her complaint, MNS workers confronted the salon owner and soon resorted to violence.

The video, reportedly filmed by one of the attackers, shows the men slapping and punching the owner as he pleads for mercy.

Police officials said that no formal complaint has been filed so far. However, they have taken cognizance of the viral video and are verifying its authenticity.

In recent weeks, MNS workers have been involved in several assault-related incidents across the Mumbai metropolitan region, often citing alleged insults to Marathi culture and language as justification for their actions.
