Suji Kurya elected president of Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association

Udupi, Nov 10: Subrahmanya G Bhat (popularly known as Suji Kurya), senior reporter of Vijaya Karnataka newspaper, has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association. Nazir Polya, district reporter of Vartha Bharathi, has been elected as the general secretary, while Harish Kundar, District video journalist of Suvarna News channel, has been elected as the treasurer.

These elections were held for the 2025–2028 term of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association. The official announcement was made today by election officer Manjunath, an official from the Udupi District Information Department.

In the election held for the position of state executive committee member, three candidates contested, and Udayavani photojournalist Astro Mohan emerged victorious with a margin of 44 votes.

Similarly, Prabhakar Acharya Chitturu, editor of Udupi Mitra newspaper; Uday Kumar Mundkur, reporter of Vijaya Karnataka; and Uday Kumar Shetty, reporter of Udayavani Hebri, were unanimously elected as Vice Presidents.

The secretaries elected unopposed are Umesh Marpalli of Jayakirana (Udupi reporter), Suresh Ermal of Karavali Ale, and T Lokesh Acharya Tekkate of Udayavani.

The following were elected as District executive committee members:

Prajwal Amin (TV9), Janardhan Kodavoor (Sanje Prabha), Chetan Matpady (Public TV), Muhammad Sharif (Vartha Bharathi), Ramananda Ajekaru (Kannada Prabha), Yogeesh Kumbashi (Vartha Bharathi), B Raghavendra Pai (Vijayavani), K Chandrashekar (Chalukya), Pramod Suvarna (Namma Kudla), Vijay Acharya Uchila (Udayavani), Praveen Muddur (Udayavani), Mohan Udupa (Vijaya Karnataka), and Sukumara Muniyalu (Prajavani).
