Udupi, Nov 11: A fire broke out at the MESCOM substation in Hiriyadka on Monday night, leading to a major disruption in power supply across several areas.
According to sources, the incident occurred due to a technical malfunction that caused some equipment to catch fire. As a result, regions including Perdur, Pernankila, and Guddeyangadi remained without electricity through the night.
Officials stated that the damage was extensive, and replacement equipment had to be brought from other locations. Restoration work was taken up on a war footing, and power supply is expected to be resumed by Tuesday afternoon, informed the section officer.

The sudden power outage caused inconvenience to residents and local establishments, while MESCOM personnel worked tirelessly through the night to restore normalcy.
