Adani Power drives rural progress: Road works inaugurated, new projects begin in Yelluru

Mangaluru, Nov 15: Adani Power Limited, through its CSR arm Adani Foundation, inaugurated the basic infrastructure development works completed at a cost of Rs 17 lacs in Yelluru village of Kaup Taluk, Udupi district.

The company also performed the Bhoomi Pooja ceremony for additional works worth Rs 20 lacs, proposed under the annual action plan of the Yelluru Gram Panchayat.

The inaugurated works include concrete road development across four locations - Pilichandi Road – 102.30 metres; Maniyooru Matha Road – 66.60 metres; Krishna Nursery Road – 66.20 metres; Crossroad near Ulluru on the Kemundelu–Padubettu Main Road – 99.20 metres.

Also as a part of the Grama Panchayat’s annual action plan, the Bhoomi Pooja ceremony was held for five new road development works costing Rs 20 lacs. The Inauguration and Bhumi Pooja were performed jointly by Kishore Alva, executive director & president of Adani Group in presence of Panchayat members and villagers.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva said: “Infrastructure plays a crucial role in ensuring comprehensive and balanced development. These projects will bring qualitative improvement in the lives of both rural and urban communities. Enhanced facilities not only improve daily living but also strengthen the local economy.”

He highlighted that ever since the Udupi power plant became part of the Adani Group, several CSR initiatives have been implemented, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and rural infrastructure development. Over the past 10 years, around Rs 15 crore worth of works have been implemented across seven surrounding Gram Panchayat limits under the rural / community infrastructure development programme. In the Yelluru Gram Panchayat limits alone, works amounting to Rs 3.20 crore have been completed. He reiterated that Adani Power Limited has been consistently executing projects proposed under the annual action plans submitted by the Gram Panchayats.

A boon for surrounding villages – GP president Raviraj Rao

Yelluru Grama Panchayat president Raviraj Rao appreciated the initiative, stating “Adani Group has implemented several CSR projects for the benefit of villagers. For the surrounding Gram Panchayats, these initiatives are a true boon. No other industry or organisation in Dakshina Kannada or Udupi districts has previously implemented CSR projects of this scale. The sustained efforts of Adani Group towards community development since its establishment here are commendable.”

Local residents welcomed the new infrastructure, stating that the CSR initiatives are helping address everyday challenges while improving connectivity, safety, and public utility services.

The event was attended by Padubidri GP vice president Usha Kotian, members Harish, Dayananda Shettigar, Yashavanth Shetty, Shobha Shetty, Jayaram Devadiga, Shanthi Acharya, Santosh Shetty Adamaru, former president Vasanthi Madhvaraj, Adani Power Limited’s AGM Ravi R Jere and Adani Foundation representative Anudeep.
