Greater Noida, Nov 18: Arundhati Choudhary produced one of the most commanding displays of the 2025 World Boxing Cup so far, overpowering Germany’s Leonie Muller—who has medalled at all three stages of the event—to headline a stellar Day 3 for India at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex.

Her emphatic victory set the momentum for a flawless outing for the Indian contingent, with Minakshi, Ankush Phangal, Parveen, and Nupur all securing their places in the finals.

Returning to international action after a 1.5-year hiatus, former Youth World Champion and Strandja medallist Arundhati looked razor-sharp. She dominated the first two rounds with persistent aggression, dropped Muller once in the second round, and floored her again in the third to seal a decisive RSC win.

Reflecting on her comeback, Arundhati said, “I have made my international comeback after a year-and-a-half, and I am delighted to be back with an RSC win. I was nervous at first because my last international bout was a loss in the Paris 2024 qualifiers before wrist surgery. But I told myself, ‘This is what I have been waiting for,’ and now I am back!”

Reigning World Champion Minakshi (48kg) continued her brilliant run with a clinical 5:0 win over Korea’s Bak Cho-rong, relying on tight defense and precise punching to dominate all three rounds.

In the 80kg category, Ankush Phangal delivered another authoritative 5:0 verdict, using speed and relentless pressure to dismantle Australia’s Marlon Sevehon. Meanwhile, Nupur (80+kg) maintained India’s momentum with a comprehensive win over Ukraine’s Mariia Lovchynska, controlling the bout from start to finish.

One of the day’s biggest surprises came from Parveen (60kg), who edged out Poland’s World Boxing Cup silver medallist Rygielska Aneta Elzbieta 3:2, showcasing composure and strong ring craft during critical exchanges.

Looking ahead to Session 5, Preeti (54kg) faces a stern challenge against Olympic medallist and three-time World Champion Huang Hsiao-Wen. Saweety Boora (75kg) meets Australia’s Emma-Sue Greetree, while Narender and Naveen aim to secure their spots in the finals. Abhinash Jamwal will also kick off his campaign against Ukraine’s Elvin Aliiev.

India’s impressive streak signals strong medal prospects as the competition heats up.
