Kasargod: Nomination process ends for Dec 11 local body polls

Kasargod, Nov 21:
The nomination process for the December 11 local body elections concluded on Friday, November 22, and detailed scrutiny of the papers will be held on Saturday. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 24.

A total of 5,475 nomination papers have been filed by 4,219 candidates contesting for seats in the district panchayat, three municipalities, block panchayats and 38 gram panchayats.

For the 18 wards of the Kasargod district panchayat, 115 nominations have been received.

Among the block panchayats, Nileshwar received 97 nominations, Parappa 88, Kanhangad 92, Manjeshwar 86, Karadka 74, and Kasargod 98.

In the municipal councils, Kanhangad received 337 nominations, Kasargod 219, and Nileshwar 171.

Scrutiny of nominations will begin at 10 am on November 22.
