Kaup, Nov 24: “I accept his criticism and suggestions. Ultimately, our only aim is to complete the Katapady Underpass within the planned time frame,” said MP Kota Srinivas Poojary referring to the meeting held at Katapady Panchayat Auditorium on November 24, presided over by Katapady Grama Panchayat president Prabha Shetty in presence of former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Responding to criticism from the opposition, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, addressing the media on November 24, said politics is often dragged into major development works. “Many projects face political criticism. Earlier they opposed the Indrali Bridge project, but today it stands successfully completed. The Santhekatte underpass too was criticised, yet now two roads are completed. Similarly, the Katapady project will also be completed without political interference,” he said.

MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has reiterated the urgency of commencing the Katapady Underpass project, citing the growing population and increasing vehicular density in the area. He said that necessary arrangements have been made on the service road and construction will begin shortly.

“I had instructed authorities to start the work before November, but continuous downpour caused delays. I convened meetings three times to push for the project. MLA, City Municipality president, local auto drivers, local leaders, and others were invited to discuss the commencement,” he said.

Explaining the temporary inconvenience that underpass construction may cause, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary stated, “Vehicles approach from multiple directions here, so some disruption is inevitable. I have directed officials to widen the narrow stretch of road. Even if there is a minor inconvenience, we must go ahead. Since this is a developmental project, we seek the cooperation of the public and welcome their suggestions. Our only goal is to complete the project smoothly without causing problems.”
