Mangaluru: Poetica Kavighoshti 46 held; shoes, socks and toys distribution among children

Mangaluru, Dec 6: St Joseph Higher Primary School, Kankanady, Poetica poets organised Poetica Kavighoshti 46 along with a distribution programme of shoes, socks and toys for all the school children on December 4.

The guests were warmly welcomed by headmistress Sr Vinitha Pereira of St Joseph Higher Primary School. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.

Poetica chief Naveen Pereira, Surathkal, who is also the organiser of the event, addressed the gathering and explained that the programme was organised keeping in mind the needs of the children. He expressed gratitude to all the donors who extended their support.

Chief guest Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank, praised the discipline of the children and encouraged them to develop leadership qualities.

President of the programme Sr Shubha BS, appreciated Poetica’s contribution to literature and its concern for people, and encouraged the children to develop literary interest.

On the dais were director of Caritas Sr Anita, vice president of the Teachers–Parents Association of St Joseph Higher Primary School Basavaraj Reddy, and Poetica poets.

The Kavighoshti, presided over by Geetha Surathkal, featured poetry recitations by poets CV Loretto, Juliet Moras Derebail, Lydia D’Costa Derebail, Maria Pinto Kulsekhar, Jacinta Mascarenhas Derebail, and Poetica chief Naveen Pereira Surathkal.

Later, Edward Lobo Tokkottu entertained the audience with a mimicry performance.

Teacher Nalinaakshi proposed the vote of thanks. Teacher Pooja CS compered the programme.

Shoes, socks and toys were distributed to all the school children. The joy of the children dancing with their new toys created a festive atmosphere.
