Kundapur: Elderly farmer falls from coconut tree, dies in hospital

Kundapur, Dec 10: An elderly farmer lost his life after falling from a coconut tree while harvesting coconuts in Siddapur village. The deceased has been identified as Ravindranath Shetty (70) of Melmadri.

According to reports, Shetty had climbed a coconut tree near his house on December 9 to pluck coconuts when he reportedly slipped and fell from the height, sustaining grievous injuries. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kundapur and later shifted to a hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment. However, despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.

He is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter. His daughter, Pushpalatha Shetty (35), has filed a complaint with the police.

A case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana police station.
