North Carolina, Dec 10: A high school in North Carolina became the scene of tragedy on Tuesday when a student was fatally stabbed and another injured following a fight, authorities said. The incident occurred at North Forsyth High School, prompting a swift law enforcement response.
Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough confirmed during a news conference that there had been a “loss of life” after an altercation between two students. The second student was treated at a hospital and later released, according to the sheriff’s office.

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein called the attack “shocking and horrible,” stressing on X that safety in schools must remain a top priority. The school will remain closed on Wednesday, and crisis counselling will be provided for students, teachers, and staff, officials said.
The stabbing comes on the same day as a deadly shooting at Kentucky State University (KSU). One person was killed and another injured after police responded to reports of an active aggressor on the Frankfort campus around 3:35 p.m. Authorities placed the university on lockdown and later confirmed that a suspect is in custody. Law enforcement continues to secure the area.
These incidents follow yet another school-related shooting earlier in September, when three individuals were critically injured at Evergreen High School near Denver, Colorado. That attack occurred outside the school building and led to a massive police response. The victims, all suffering from gunshot wounds, were treated at CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital.
The string of violent episodes has once again raised concerns about safety at educational institutions across the United States, with officials urging renewed focus on prevention and crisis response.
