Chikkamagaluru, Dec 12: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, an autonomous body established by the government of Karnataka, has been consistently working for the growth of Konkani language, literature, culture, and arts. Through various programmes, the Academy has been promoting Konkani and uniting the Konkani-speaking community.
In collaboration with Catholic Konkani Rockan, the Academy is organising Konkani Kalotsav – 2025 at Kuvempu Kalamandira in Chikkamagaluru on December 14. The event will begin at 9:00 am and continue until 9:00 pm.

From 9:00 am onwards, various entertainment competitions will be held for participants from Chikkamagaluru and Hassan regions. Winners will receive a cash prize of Rs 15,000 for first place, Rs 10,000 for second place, and Rs 5,000 for third place, along with a trophy and certificate. The best programme presenters will also receive first, second, and third prizes.
At 3:00 pm, a grand cultural procession featuring diverse cultural troupes will commence from Kuvempu Kalamandira, move through I G Road, proceed via Hanumanthappa Circle and M G Road, and return to the venue.
The stage programme will begin at 4:00 pm with performances by various art troupes. Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Joachim Stany Alvares will preside over the ceremony. Chikkamagaluru MLA H D Thammaiah will participate as the chief guest. MLCs C T Ravi and S L Bhojegowda, Karnataka Christian Development Corporation director Harsha Melwyn Lasrado, MCC Bank Ltd chairman Anil Lobo, coffee planter B H Narendra Pai, and local Catholic leader Stany D’Silva will be present as guests of honour.
The cultural programme will showcase a vibrant array of performances, including brass band, Kharvi dance, Gumat, Siddi dance, Kudubi dance, Christmas Khel, and musical ensembles. The event will conclude with a musical concert.
