Thane, Dec 12: Commuters using Ghodbunder Road are set to face delays over the weekend as the Thane Traffic Police have imposed traffic restrictions from December 12 to 14 due to major repair and resurfacing work being carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC). The work is underway at busy points such as Gaimukh Nirakendra, Kajupada and the stretch near the Fountain Hotel, prompting authorities to regulate vehicle movement.

According to officials, heavy vehicles coming from Mumbai and Thane will not be allowed to proceed beyond Y Junction and Kapurbawdi Junction. Such vehicles will be diverted via the Kharegaon Toll Plaza, Mankoli, Anjurphata and onwards to Nashik Road, while another diversion will move traffic through Kasheli and Anjurphata.

Vehicles arriving from Mumbra and Kalwa towards Ghodbunder Road will be halted at Kharegaon Toll Plaza and directed to take the Kharegaon Khadi Bridge route to Mankoli and Anjurphata. Entry for vehicles coming from Nashik will be blocked at Mankoli Naka, with diversions routed beneath Mankoli Bridge towards Anjurphata.

Light vehicles heading from Thane to Ghodbunder Road will be allowed to move through Gaimukh Chowki using a temporary wrong-side diversion before merging back near the cut close to the Fountain Hotel.

Authorities have clarified that emergency and essential service vehicles, including ambulances, police and fire brigade vehicles, oxygen carriers and green corridor movement, will not face any restrictions.
