Chennai, Aug 16: Superstar Rajinikanth completed 51 years in cinema on August 15, with the milestone celebrated on the sets of his upcoming film Dharman.
A special cake-cutting ceremony was held during the film's shoot in the presence of Rajinikanth, director Ashwath Marimuthu and the cast and crew.
August 15 marks a significant milestone in Rajinikanth's illustrious career. On the same day in 1975, Apoorva Raagangal was released, marking his entry into the film industry. Over the past 51 years, he has built one of the most celebrated careers in Indian cinema.

The Dharman team marked the occasion during the ongoing shoot, with a post from the sets carrying the caption, “51 YEARS. ONE NAME. ONE SUPERSTAR. Celebrating from the sets of DHARMAN.”
Dharman, starring Rajinikanth, is produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran under the banners of Raajkamal Films International and Turmeric Media. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the film marks Rajinikanth's 173rd project. Simran and Raashii Khanna are also part of the cast, while production is currently underway.
Since its announcement, Dharman has attracted considerable attention, particularly because of its tagline, “The Deadly Doctor”, which led to speculation about the film's storyline.
Reports and social media posts had claimed that the film was an adaptation of the medical drama series The Good Doctor. Speculation intensified after an X user claimed that Dharman was based on the series and questioned how its story would be adapted for the big screen.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu, however, dismissed the claim. Responding to an X user who alleged that Raaj Kamal Films International had acquired the remake rights of The Good Doctor for the Rajinikanth-starrer, the filmmaker replied, “Fake News!”
The rumours gained traction largely because of the film's medical backdrop.
The Good Doctor, starring Freddie Highmore, follows a young surgeon with savant syndrome and autism who joins a prestigious hospital and faces challenges while proving his abilities through his medical skills and intuition.
With production of Dharman progressing, details about Rajinikanth's character and the film's storyline remain closely guarded.
