Festive fervour marks Christmas celebrations at Father Muller Deralakatte Campus

Mangaluru, Dec 18: A joyful Christmas celebration was organized on the evening of December 17 at the premises of the Homoeopathic College conjointly hosted by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital (FMHMCH), Father Muller College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (FMCOPS), and Father Muller Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Division (FMHPD)Deralakatte.

The dignitaries on the dais were M A Gafoor, chairman, Coastal Development Board, Government of Karnataka as guest of honour and Divya Satish Shetty, president of Kotekar Town Panchayat was the chief guest, and the programme was presided by Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI).

Also present on the dais were Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, administrator, FMHMCH, and FMCOPS; Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, administrator, FMHPD; Fr Ashwin Crasta, assistant administrator, FMHMCH and FMCOPS; Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, principal, FMHMC; Dr S Satish, principal, FMCOPS; Dr Girish Navada UK, medical superintendent, FMHMCH; and Dr Vilma Meera D’Souza, vice principal, FMHMC.

The programme began with a welcome address by Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, administrator, FMHPD.

Guest of honour for the evening, M A Gafoor stated that it was commendable how Father Muller institutions at Deralakatte have brought people together through the celebration of Christmas. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence and harmony in society can be achieved when people live together with mutual respect, and programs like these serve as an ideal example.

Divya Satish, the evening’s chief guest expressed her happiness at being part of the celebration. She mentioned that such harmonious Christmas celebrations inspires love and trust among people. She also appreciated the recognition and felicitation of individuals who supported the medical camps and community outreach programs organized by FMHMCH, which added greater significance to their efforts.

In the presidential address, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, reflected on the message of Jesus Christ, emphasizing compassion, mutual understanding, and service to others. He noted that all religions convey similar values, and the collective celebration of Christmas by people of all backgrounds serves as a guiding path toward building a better society.

On this occasion, M A Gafoor and Divya Satish Shetty were felicitated on behalf of FMCI. Additionally, key contributors who supported the medical camps and other community programs organized by FMHMCH were recognized and honoured.

As a part of Christmas fervour, Christmas cake was cut by the dignitaries on dias joined by Dr Anusha G Sanil, cultural coordinator and Dr Ancy George, Cultural Co-coordinator, FMHMC and cakes were distributed to all gathered.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Fr Donald Nilesh Crasta, administrator, FMHMCH, and FMCOPS.

The official programme was compered by Dr Nandan Krishna and Nishmitha, Faculties of FMHMC and FMCOPS, respectively.

Following the formal programme, a variety of cultural performances were presented by the faculty, students, and staff of the Father Muller Deralakatte campus, compered by Dr Chrisel D’Sa, MD Scholar and Farah Mariam, II BHMS.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and remarkable performances by both students and staff, making the celebration a joyous and memorable occasion that truly reflected the spirit of Christmas.
