Mangaluru, Dec 19: As part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Mangaluru’ campaign, a corner meet programme was successfully organised at St Theresa School and St Ann’s Composite Pre-University College in Mangaluru, through the joint initiative of the Make a Change Foundation and the Mangaluru city police department.
Speaking at the programme, former Mangaluru City Corporation corporator Naveen D’Souza explained in detail the harmful effects of substance abuse on children and students. He said, “As we all know, addiction plays with the future of our families, society and the nation. To stop this menace, everyone must contribute at their own level,” and encouraged students to stay away from drugs.

Make a Change Foundation founder Suhail Kandhak shared his views and said that Mangaluru is a city known for its vastness, culture, education and healthcare systems. However, he expressed concern that in recent times the city has gained negative attention due to some unfortunate incidents. He called upon youth and students to join hands with the ‘Nasha Mukt Mangaluru’ campaign and said that collective efforts are needed to restore Mangaluru’s reputation and help it once again emerge as a city that draws national attention in the fields of education and health.
Pandeshwar police station inspector Guruprasad also addressed the gathering and spoke about the need to create positive awareness against substance abuse.
During the programme, Born Again Foundation head Beena, St Theresa School principal Sr Lourdes, St Ann’s College principal Sr M Rachana AC, Lavanya Ballal, Basheer DX, and several other dignitaries were present.
