Goa, Dec 23: An FIR has been registered against the owners of Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, Gaurav and Saurav Luthra, after it was revealed that a health certificate used to obtain the club’s initial trade licence was forged, Advocate Vishnu Joshi said on Tuesday.

Joshi, who is representing the families of victims of the Arpora fire incident, added that an additional FIR has been filed against Ajay Gupta, the club’s third partner, for allegedly submitting a forged police verification document.

The counsel also indicated that the families would seek the intervention of central agencies, including the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Income Tax Department, to investigate the matter. He alleged that the Luthra brothers own 42 companies, many of which may be shell entities, and called for a probe into how funds generated through these companies were being utilised.

The development adds a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into the Arpora nightclub fire tragedy, which had claimed multiple lives and sparked widespread outrage.
