Sealed Goa nightclubs back in action days after deadly Birch fire

Panaji, Dec 31: Days after the tragic Birch nightclub fire that claimed 25 lives, several nightclubs in Goa that were sealed by the government have reportedly resumed operations, raising fresh concerns over safety and regulatory enforcement.

Despite the recent tragedy and official action, the party circuit has returned to full swing, with advertisements promoting club events going viral on social media platforms. Reports suggest that table bookings for December 30 and 31 went as high as Rs 1.2 lakh per table, indicating strong demand during the year-end celebrations.

Sources said that multiple establishments managed to secure the required licences and clearances within just two weeks of being sealed, enabling them to reopen and welcome patrons once again.

The rapid reopening of clubs has triggered questions about safety compliance and the effectiveness of post-incident inspections, especially in the wake of a disaster that exposed serious lapses and led to significant loss of life.
