Calangute, Jan 1: Panic gripped PorobVaddo after an elderly caretaker was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Thursday. The victim, employed at a private residence for over 15 years, was discovered roughly 15 to 20 metres from his living quarters with severe head and bodily injuries, reportedly inflicted by a shovel, police said.

Calangute police responded promptly after receiving the alert and conducted a thorough inspection of the crime scene. The body was sent for a post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Authorities have arrested a resident of the property for questioning in connection with the incident. According to the caretaker’s roommate, four unidentified individuals allegedly entered the premises and attacked him. However, investigators have raised doubts about this account, citing CCTV footage from the area showing no signs of any intruders entering the property.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are reviewing all possible leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the caretaker’s death.
