Mumbai, Feb 14: At least three to four persons were injured after a portion of an under-construction cement metro pillar collapsed in Mulund on Saturday afternoon, crashing onto a moving autorickshaw and partially crushing a car beneath the debris.
The incident occurred around 12.20 pm on LBS Road in front of the Johnson and Johnson factory, when a slab of the cement structure under construction for Mumbai Metro Line 4 suddenly gave way and fell onto the three-wheeler passing below.

Civic officials said three to four occupants of the autorickshaw are feared injured. Details regarding the nature and extent of their injuries are awaited.
“A cement slab of the pillar collapsed and fell on an autorickshaw below, completely smashing the vehicle. Three to four persons are feared injured. Fire brigade and police personnel, along with staff of the firm constructing the metro rail route, are at the spot to monitor post-incident operations,” officials said.
Following an alert from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, multiple agencies rushed to the site. Fire brigade teams, local police, Metro authorities, ward staff and 108 ambulance service personnel were deployed for rescue and relief operations.
The injured were provided immediate medical assistance and shifted to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Further investigation into the cause of the collapse is underway.
