Bengaluru, Nov 5: Kannada actor Duniya Vijay is all set to make his debut in the Tamil film industry with the much-anticipated film Mookuthi Amman 2, featuring Nayanthara in the lead role and directed by Sundar C.
From humble beginnings to becoming one of Kannada cinema's recognised stars, Vijay's journey in the film industry has been marked by perseverance and determination. Born Vijay Kumar in Karnataka, he faced several challenges during his early years in cinema, working as a junior artiste and stunt performer before making his mark as an actor.
He appeared in several films in minor, often uncredited roles while gradually gaining experience. His major breakthrough came in 2007 with director Suri's film Duniya, in which he played Shivu, a character connected to the underworld.

Vijay's realistic performance and distinctive mannerisms won the appreciation of audiences. The film emerged as a major success and brought him widespread recognition. He subsequently became popularly known as Duniya Vijay.
Following the success of Duniya, Vijay went on to act in several films, including Chanda, Junglee, Johnny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam, Jayammana Maga and Bheema Theeradalli. Through his performances, particularly in mass-action roles, he built a strong fan following and established a prominent position in Kannada cinema.
Apart from acting, Vijay also ventured into direction. He made his directorial debut with the 2021 film Salaga, in which he also played the lead role. He later directed and starred in the 2024 film Bheema, taking responsibility for its story and direction as well.
Vijay has also explored opportunities beyond Kannada cinema. In 2023, he appeared in Nandamuri Balakrishna's Telugu film Veera Simha Reddy in an important negative-shaded role. With Mookuthi Amman 2, he is now preparing to enter the Tamil film industry.
A great admirer of superstar Rajinikanth and director Sundar C, Vijay considers the project a special opportunity. With years of acting experience, a reputation for portraying diverse characters and a distinctive screen presence, he is looking forward to beginning a new chapter in Tamil cinema.
His journey from working in small roles to becoming a leading actor and director in Kannada cinema has made his Tamil debut an eagerly awaited development among fans. Whether he will win over Tamil audiences with Mookuthi Amman 2 remains to be seen.
