Fines pile up in Kandivali as traffic crackdown hits transporters

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 13: Transporters in Kandivali are facing mounting penalties as a strict traffic enforcement drive continues across the suburb. Authorities have intensified checks on commercial vehicles, leading to hundreds of fines being issued for violations such as overloading, wrong parking, and flouting safety regulations.

Officials said the crackdown aims to reduce congestion and improve road safety, particularly in areas prone to traffic snarls. “We are committed to ensuring smooth and safe traffic flow. Drivers must comply with rules to avoid penalties,” a Kandivali traffic inspector stated.

Local transport operators have expressed concerns over the sudden spike in fines, saying it affects their daily operations and adds to logistical costs. Authorities, however, stressed that the enforcement is essential to curb reckless driving and ensure commuter safety.

With the campaign ongoing, transporters have been urged to adhere strictly to traffic norms to avoid further penalties and disruption to services.
