Mumbai, Apr 4: A heated argument over a food bill turned violent in Malad East, leading to the arrest of a man accused of attacking a street vendor in a shocking incident last week.

According to police, the accused, Lakshmidhar Malik, allegedly bit the fingers of a vendor, Ranjit Singh, during a dispute at a vada pav and samosa stall in Shivaji Nagar on the evening of March 28.

The incident occurred around 8:30 pm when Malik ordered a samosa cutlet from Singh’s stall. When asked to pay, he reportedly objected to the price, began using abusive language, and caused a disturbance. Although he eventually completed the payment online, the situation quickly escalated.

Police said that Singh asked Malik to leave the premises and stop the verbal abuse, which allegedly triggered a physical confrontation. During the scuffle, Malik is accused of biting two of Singh’s fingers, causing them to bleed.

Hearing Singh’s cries, his son Aryan and other staff members rushed to intervene and managed to separate the two.

The injured vendor was later taken to KEM Hospital for medical treatment. Following the incident, Singh approached the Dindoshi Police Station, where a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the accused.

Police have since arrested Malik and initiated further investigation into the matter.
