Sidhi, Apr 14: A dispute during an Ambedkar Jayanti procession turned violent on Tuesday, leaving at least 14 people injured, including civilians and police personnel.
The incident began in Amiliya town when an argument broke out over the removal of a vehicle parked along the rally route. What started as a verbal dispute quickly escalated into clashes between two groups. Tensions intensified after participants allegedly damaged the vehicle, triggering further unrest.
Amid the chaos, a group of around 50 masked individuals reportedly entered a house and attacked members of a family. Several people, including a young man and his relatives, sustained serious injuries, with some suffering head wounds after being assaulted and pelted with stones.

The situation worsened when a large mob of nearly 200 people gathered at the local police station, where they vandalised property and hurled stones. Parts of the station, including administrative and investigation areas, were damaged during the attack. Police personnel attempting to control the situation were also injured.
Senior officials, including district collector Vikas Mishra, reached the area to oversee the situation. Authorities confirmed that several injured individuals have been treated and discharged, while others remain under medical care.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Officials stated that the situation is now under control, with a flag march conducted in the area and continuous engagement with residents to maintain peace.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading or believing rumours as efforts continue to restore normalcy.
