Udupi, Apr 29: Christ Church, Manipal, witnessed a solemn and spiritually significant ceremony as the blessing of the Holy Cross and statues of patron saints was held in preparation for the inauguration of the renovated church on May 1.
The ceremony was led by Bishop Emeritus Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, along with parish priest Fr Romeo Lewis. The event began with a grand procession with altar boys, children dressed as angels, and a band group from Christ School. The procession also included statues of the patron saints from various wards, adding to the devotional atmosphere.


























During the ceremony, blessings of the Holy Cross, statue and other sacred items used in daily church rituals are held. The faithful gathered in large numbers to take part in the occasion, reflecting deep devotion and community spirit.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo said that the blessing marks the beginning of a renewed spiritual journey for the parish. He noted that on May 1, the Holy Sanctuary, Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, and the fully renovated church building will be formally blessed. The occasion signifies divine grace and an opportunity for the community to embrace renewal and faith.
The ceremony concluded with prayers and participation from a large number of parishioners, marking a meaningful step toward the upcoming inauguration celebrations.
