New Delhi, May 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Vietnam President To Lam in the national capital on Wednesday, with both sides set to deliberate on a wide range of issues spanning bilateral ties, as well as regional and global developments of mutual interest.

President To Lam, who arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday on a three-day State Visit, was received at the airport by Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and a strong business contingent.

The visiting leader will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. He will also pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Following the delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Modi and President To Lam, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, aimed at further strengthening cooperation across sectors.

Later in the day, President Droupadi Murmu will meet her Vietnamese counterpart at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is also scheduled to call on the visiting dignitary.

As part of his engagements, President To Lam will deliver the 56th Sapru House Lecture, organised by the Indian Council of World Affairs.

Notably, this marks President To Lam’s first State Visit to India since assuming office in April this year. The visit also coincides with the 10th anniversary of India-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016.

India and Vietnam share long-standing historical and civilisational ties, which have evolved into a robust partnership over the years. The current visit is expected to inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations and open new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
