New Delhi, May 10: Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan has been appointed as the next Chief of Naval Staff and will assume office on May 31, succeeding the incumbent Navy chief.
According to official sources, Vice Admiral Swaminathan is currently serving as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command in Mumbai and is expected to continue in the top post till December 31, 2028.

An accomplished officer of the Indian Navy, he was commissioned into the force on July 1, 1987, and has specialised in Communication and Electronic Warfare during his distinguished naval career.
Vice Admiral Swaminathan is an alumnus of National Defence Academy, the Joint Services Command and Staff College, the College of Naval Warfare and the United States Naval War College.
During his decades-long service, he has held several important operational and leadership appointments in the Navy. With extensive experience in naval operations and strategic leadership, Vice Admiral Swaminathan is expected to guide the Indian Navy through a crucial phase of modernisation and emerging maritime security challenges.
