Hyderabad, May 11: A devastating road accident in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district claimed five lives on Monday after a high-speed sports bike collided with a car at Palakonda junction on the Mahabubnagar bypass road.
Police said the accident occurred when the car was attempting a U-turn and was hit by a speeding motorcycle coming from Hyderabad. The impact of the collision was so severe that both riders on the bike and three occupants of the car were killed on the spot.

The deceased include three members of a family travelling in the car — a woman and two children, identified as 18-month-old Aamir, 8-year-old Huzefa, and 30-year-old Ghousia. The two persons riding the sports bike also died in the crash.
Another woman in the car sustained critical injuries and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
According to preliminary reports, the motorcycle was allegedly travelling at extremely high speed, estimated to be around 140 kmph. The rear portion of the car was completely mangled due to the impact.
Local residents have raised concerns over repeated incidents of reckless riding on the Mahabubnagar bypass road, stating that stretches of the highway are often misused by motorcycle racing enthusiasts from Hyderabad, putting other commuters at serious risk.
In a separate incident earlier, two people including an actor were killed in a crash on the Outer Ring Road near Adibatla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, when their car collided with a container truck. The victims were identified as actor K. Bharat Kanth and cameraman G. Sai Trilok.
Additionally, in another road mishap in Andhra Pradesh’s Markapuram region, a car caught fire after hitting a JCB vehicle from behind. All five occupants escaped with minor injuries before the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Authorities have once again urged motorists to follow speed limits and exercise caution, especially on highway stretches prone to overspeeding and reckless driving.
