Kasargod: 87th Parish Day, 15 years of Pallottines presence celebrated at Ukkinadka

Kasargod, May 18: The 87th Parish Day and the celebration of 15 years of Pallottines’ presence at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church was celebrated with great devotion, joy, and enthusiasm on May 17.

The celebrations commenced with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, followed by a solemn Thanksgiving Mass. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr Joyson Nixson D’Souza SAC as the main celebrant. The preaching was delivered by Fr Daniel Horta SAC, whose inspiring homily touched the hearts of the faithful. The concelebrants for the Mass were Fr Sunil Miranda SAC, parish priest, Fr Santhosh Almeida SAC, Fr Claudy Vas SAC, and Fr Leo D'Souza.

The liturgy was prayerfully and beautifully prepared by the PPC members, adding solemnity and spiritual richness to the celebration. A large crowd of parishioners, well-wishers, and guests gathered to participate in the joyful occasion.

After the Holy Mass, juice and cake pieces were distributed to all gathered. This was followed by the formal programme and cultural programme, which began with a graceful prayer dance.

The chief guests for the occasion were the newly ordained priests of the Pallottine ABVM Province namely Fr Santhosh Almeida SAC, Fr Joyson Nixson D’Souza SAC, and Fr Daniel Horta SAC. Other dignitaries present on the dais included Fr Sunil Miranda SAC, Fr Claudy Vas SAC, Fr Leo Dsouza, Sr Vilma Crasta, the PPC vice president, PPC secretary, and the all associations coordinator.

The associations coordinator welcomed the gathering warmly. The PPC vice president presented a brief history of the Pallottines’ presence and service at Ukkinadka over the past 15 years. The chief guest Fr. Santhosh addressed the gathering with inspiring messages, followed by the parish priest’s message of gratitude and encouragement.

Prizes were distributed to children for various competitions and activities. The PPC secretary proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed towards the success of the celebration. Mementos were distributed to all the guests, the four gurkhas, and their families in appreciation of their service and support.

The formal program was beautifully compered by ICYM members Anvith D’Souza and Renisha D’Souza, who conducted the event in an organized and lively manner. The cultural programme that followed was vibrant and entertaining. Children presented dances, mime, and skits. Representatives from three wards performed various cultural items such as dances, comedy skits, Kavali, and Ghumta. The ICYM members also performed an energetic dance. The entire programme received great appreciation from all gathered for its excellent organization and performances.

The celebrations concluded with a fellowship meal served to everyone present. The parish day celebration became a memorable occasion of faith, unity, thanksgiving, and joyful fellowship for the entire parish community.
