Moodbidri, May 18: A truck carrying stones overturned on the Karkala-Moodbidri National Highway at Bannadka on Monday, May 18, after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

Due to the impact of the accident, stones loaded in the truck were scattered across the road, disrupting traffic movement for some time.

Locals alleged that a series of accidents have been occurring continuously in the area over the past several days. They expressed anger that despite the stretch turning into an accident-prone zone, the authorities have failed to take suitable corrective measures.

Residents and motorists had earlier brought the recurring accidents in the area to the notice of local MLAs and MPs and demanded urgent road repairs. However, yet another accident at the same dangerous stretch has increased concern among commuters.

Locals have urged public representatives and officials to immediately address the road defects and implement proper precautionary measures to prevent further accidents.
