Mangalore: Young Medicos, Nurses Graduate from Father Muller Institutions

Mangalore, Mar 13: The institutions' day of Father Muller Charitable Institutions was held at the Father Muller Stadium here on Tuesday March 13. The graduation ceremony of the institutions was also held on the occasion.
 
Prof Shantha Sinha, chairperson, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi was the chief guest. Dr K S Sriprakash, vice-chancellor, RGUHS, Bangalore and Madalena F M Hanjan Da Costa Soares, vice-minister of health, Democratic Republic of Timor Leste were the guests of honour.

Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, bishop of Mangalore diocese presided and distributed the gold medals.
 
Prof Shantha Sinha and Dr K S Sriprakash administrated the oath and presented the graduation certificates.
 
Prof Shantha Sinha addressing the gathering said that when young graduates take the oath, they are also taking the responsibility of upholding the dignity of their patients. "Each patient you meet, they trust you, hence being compassionate, a good listener and care taker is essential," she pointed out.

"Doctors should empathize on patience as there are challenges in the medical profession. Lack of knowledge among patients is one among them. The medical profession is a gift to discover the truth in us as each life is important and should be treated with utmost care. It is the duty of the medical practitioners to treat all patients," she said, advising the young graduates to uphold professional ethics.
 
Earlier a procession of the graduates was held from the medical college premises to the venue.
 
Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI read out the annual report of various colleges like Father Muller School of Nursing, Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, Father Muller Medical College, Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing.
 
Fr Denis D’sa, administrator, FMMC and FMCON delivered the vote of thanks. A variety of cultural programme followed, adding a dose of entertainment to the event.

 

Nursing College Building Inaugurated

Earlier in the day, the newly-built silver jubilee memorial building of Father Muller College of Nursing was inaugurated by Dr K S Sriprakash, vice-chancellor of RGUHS.

Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza blessed the premises and led a prayer.

The new building comprises four lecture halls, advanced laboratories and libraries in each department. It also has an auditorium, called 'Rajat Bhavan' with a seating capacity of 500.

Among those present were Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar general of Mangalore diocese, Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director, FMCI, and Fr Denis D'Sa, administrator, FMMC and others.
