Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh), May 23: A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district claimed the lives of four members of a family, including three children, after a speeding dumper truck lost control and ran over them while they were sleeping outside their home on Saturday, officials said.
The incident took place on the Fatehpur-Bhanoli road near Jhansa village under the jurisdiction of Fatehpur Kotwali police station.

According to police officials, the victims had been sleeping beside the roadside due to intense heat and frequent power outages in the area. During the night, a dumper truck coming from the Mahmudabad side allegedly went out of control and crashed into the family.
A man and his three children died in the accident, while the children’s mother suffered serious injuries. She was first taken to a local Community Health Centre and later shifted to a hospital in Lucknow for advanced treatment, officials said.
Amit Singh confirmed that four people died in the crash and one woman remains in critical condition.
Residents rushed to the scene after hearing screams and helped rescue the injured before informing the police. Authorities later sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and shifted the injured woman for medical care.
Police have seized the dumper truck involved in the accident and detained the driver. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
