Four injured in cylinder blast at East Delhi house

New Delhi, May 23: At least four people were injured after a cylinder blast triggered a fire in the Ajit Nagar area of New Delhi on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 1.30 pm at a house in Gali No. 9, Ajit Nagar, under the Gandhi Nagar area in East Delhi.

Rajendra Prasad Meena said Head Constable Rahul and Constable Kuldeep received information about the fire and immediately rushed to the spot.

Upon arrival, the police personnel found several people trapped on the first floor of the building. They rescued a woman, children and a man from the house and shifted them safely to a hospital, where treatment is currently underway.

The DCP said the timely response of the police staff helped prevent a major tragedy.

According to preliminary investigation, the blast was likely caused by leakage from a gas cylinder pipe.

Police officials said the beat staff noticed the fire and acted immediately despite no PCR call being made regarding the incident.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
