Jammu, May 24: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir carried out a major anti-drug operation on Saturday, demolishing three properties estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore and allegedly linked to a notorious drug trafficker in the Miran Sahib area of Jammu.

According to Jammu Police, the action was conducted jointly by the Headquarters Zone Police and the district administration against properties belonging to Navjot Singh, also known as Bablu, who reportedly faces 15 criminal cases related to narcotics and other offences.

In a noteworthy development during the demolition drive, officials temporarily paused the operation to respectfully remove two national flags placed inside the structure before resuming the action.

Police officials stated that the Tricolour was carefully retrieved to ensure it was handled with proper dignity and protocol. The incident took place during the demolition of the accused’s properties located on the outskirts of Jammu city.

A video that later surfaced online showed a police personnel entering the partially demolished building to recover the tabletop flags. Officials said the operation, supervised by Sub-Inspector Rinku Sharma, was halted briefly until the flags were safely removed.

Meanwhile, in a separate crackdown against narcotics networks, Srinagar Police announced the attachment of properties worth nearly Rs 5 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers in Srinagar and nearby areas.

Officials described the seizure as the largest property attachment conducted so far under the ongoing 100-day “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan,” launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on April 6.
