Panaji, May 24: A violent clash reportedly broke out inside the high-security Block No. 4 of Colvale Central Jail on Saturday morning, allegedly involving history-sheeter Tarzan Parsekar and his associates.
According to official sources, the confrontation occurred between Parsekar’s group and inmate Rakesh Patil. Authorities are currently investigating the exact trigger of the altercation, with preliminary inputs suggesting a possible extortion-related dispute within the prison premises.

Patil sustained injuries to his nose and head during the attack and was taken to North Goa District Hospital for treatment. He was administered medication and discharged shortly afterwards.
Sources further claimed that only two prison guards were on duty in the block at the time of the incident, despite the requirement of six personnel for adequate security deployment.
The latest violence comes just two months after a similar confrontation was reported in the same block, allegedly involving Parsekar’s group and another faction of inmates.
In a separate incident inside the jail, Vikat Bhagat—who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the rape and murder case of an Irish backpacker in Canacona—and another inmate identified as “Chotu” were also allegedly attacked.
As of the time of reporting, jail authorities had not issued an official statement regarding the incidents or the security lapses inside the prison.
