New Delhi, May 24: Union minister Piyush Goyal launched a strong attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, accusing him of attempting to create political instability following his recent comments about the future of the central government.
The political row erupted after Rahul Gandhi reportedly told a Congress minority advisory meeting that the “Modi government will fall in the next one year,” attributing his statement to growing economic dissatisfaction in the country.
Reacting sharply on social media platform X, Goyal accused the Congress and opposition parties of running a coordinated campaign to undermine the government and destabilise the nation.

He described the statement as part of what he called a “serious conspiracy” to spread unrest, alleging that opposition leaders were unable to defeat the ruling party through democratic means and were instead attempting to incite instability.
Piyush Goyal further alleged that opposition leaders were engaged in defaming India and attempting to influence foreign powers, claiming that such actions reflected their “true intentions.”
He also asserted that the public was aware of such narratives and had repeatedly rejected them in elections.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson and MP Sambit Patra also criticised Rahul Gandhi’s remarks, calling them provocative and recalling earlier statements made by the Congress leader against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Patra said that similar comments had been made in the past, including during the 2019 election period, and accused the opposition of repeatedly using aggressive rhetoric.
During the same Congress meeting, party leader Imran Masood reportedly called for a renewed outreach strategy toward the Muslim community and emphasised the need to reshape the party’s political messaging ahead of upcoming elections.
