@this cargo is not seized, but it is been imported by Jindal for their use and purpose which wil l be moved by railway wagons. India has only few ports where there is direct rail link to move the cargo. Jindal also owns a railway yard where they receive the cargo as well. VLCC size vessel has already called m'lore port to discharge timber in the past years.

@ Roshan, I am not just an agent, but working for ship owners too. Hence, need to keep ourselves d on all the ports worldwide. A year back one of our own vessel loaded marble granite from this port. There are only 2 berths with draft indicated. Majority of heavy ships call on berth no. 1 which is 13.25 m as mentioned. 18 M berth is not allowed for all the ships. They are also planning to dredge all the berth upto 16 M in near future.

Also iron ore ships stability has to be trimmed in the best banking way for safety purpose and hence more deeper waters is considered to be best, subject to swell being less than 3%. The hydraulic deck opening is the new design, but is not considered very safe like the folding deck covers. The new design is risk oriented, but ship builders are working on it as make it safe. These covers were designed keeping in mind that crew can stand comfortably which on duty at the ports, rather risking by standing on the hatch railings.

This is a welcome change to the port traffic. It is an improvement with big cargo vessels calling at the port. Hope the Port Authorities remain clean while handling these cargo ships.

Jindal, a name to reckon with, a billionaire family and a famous name in India. However, 50 Mangalorean youngsters took up jobs recently in Jindal situated in Karnataka. Meet these youngsters and you will realize the pathetic condition that they had to work in, including no transportation, safety gear while working. This is how our Indian Enterpreneurs become billionaires by sucking the blood of poor! exposing them to the worst possible contamination. From what I heard, all 50 youth came back within 2 months! So much for Jindal success story. Is our Government agency ever visit this company and check the welfare of workers? I am sure with hands greased well, they even forget their own Mothers!
I urge Daijiworld to expose this company.

NMPT has been receiving coal from couple of years and there is nothing new in it. Off course this vessel has got the cargo with a lot bigger tonnage and ever handled by the port. We should be proud of NMPT as it is aheading towards to be a major port in the whole of coastal belt.
@ Seema this cargo is not seized, but it is been imported by Jindal for their use and purpose which wil l be moved by railway wagons. India has only few ports where there is direct rail link to move the cargo. Jindal also owns a railway yard where they receive the cargo as well. VLCC size vessel has already called m'lore port to discharge timber in the past years.
The deep water berth has got about 18 mtr draft at NMPT and is capable to accomodate big vessels. Shiping industry is booming in m'lore. NMPT still records to be on top for early turn around of the ships arriving to load iron ore. 50,000 tons is being loaded in just less than 2 days time from arrival of the vessel.

Now we can see Mangalore roads covered in black instead of Red. There is no proper precaution taken by truckers while transporting this cargo by road. We need development but not compromising nature and human health.
