New Delhi, May 25: Union home minister Amit Shah will begin a two-day visit to Rajasthan’s border region on Monday, with Bikaner set to host a series of high-level security and administrative meetings focused on strengthening border management and tackling emerging cross-border threats.

Union law minister and Bikaner MP Arjun Ram Meghwal said the Home Minister is expected to arrive in Bikaner on Monday night and remain there for an overnight stay before commencing official engagements the following day.

On May 26, Shah will chair a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials to assess border security arrangements, anti-infiltration measures and developmental initiatives in Rajasthan’s border districts. The discussions are expected to focus on improving coordination among agencies, upgrading surveillance systems and accelerating infrastructure development in sensitive border areas.

As part of the visit, the Home Minister will also travel to the Sanchu border outpost to interact directly with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. During the interaction, Shah is likely to review the current security situation, understand operational challenges faced by forces on the ground and discuss future security strategies.

Meghwal described the visit as highly significant from a strategic and administrative perspective, noting that the meetings would help evaluate both border management practices and developmental concerns in the region.

Officials indicated that the review will include discussions on strengthening anti-infiltration systems, improving inter-agency coordination and addressing emerging threats such as hybrid warfare and drone-assisted smuggling of narcotics and weapons across the international border.

Ahead of the Home Minister’s arrival, authorities have intensified security preparations across Bikaner and surrounding areas. Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas on Saturday conducted a detailed review meeting at the Secretariat to assess security arrangements, administrative coordination and preparedness for the upcoming Border Security Review Meeting.

During the meeting, Srinivas directed all departments and security agencies to work in close coordination to ensure robust surveillance and effective security mechanisms in border districts. He stressed the importance of heightened vigilance in sensitive areas, quicker intelligence-sharing systems and stronger joint operational frameworks.

The review also covered law and order issues in border regions, measures to curb narcotics trafficking, drone monitoring systems and coordination between multiple agencies involved in border security operations.

Senior officials from key departments and organisations, including the Border Security Force (BSF), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Department of Telecommunications, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), attended the meeting.

Officials said the advance review was aimed at ensuring seamless coordination and strengthening preparedness ahead of the Home Minister’s important border security engagements in Rajasthan.
