Brahmavar, May 25: A three-day Jackfruit and Fruit Fair jointly organized by Rotary Club Brahmavar, Rotary Club Barkur, the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, and the Regional Agricultural Research Centre, Brahmavar, was held from May 22 to May 24 at the SMS Community Hall in Brahmavar.

The fair was inaugurated by Rotary Brahmavar member Satish Shetty. The event was open to the public from 10 am to 8 pm on all three days and witnessed a huge turnout of visitors.

Speaking on the occasion, entrepreneur Harish Kundar said that the Jackfruit Fair, which has been continuously organized in Brahmavar for the past several years, has helped showcase a variety of delicacies prepared from jackfruit and has contributed towards giving the fruit national-level recognition.

With the concept of “Farmers’ produce directly to consumers,” hundreds of small farmers, entrepreneurs, and home-based product makers have participated in the fair. Rare varieties of sweet mangoes and jackfruits from the plains region, considered uncommon on the coast, are available at the event. Various jackfruit-based dishes including jackfruit holige, biryani, vegetable seeds, homemade products, saplings of different jackfruit varieties, flowering plants, and a variety of fruits were also showcased at the fair.

Rotary Barkur president Kishori Shetty, Krishi Vijnyana Kendra representative Sudhir Kamath, Dr Revanna Revanna, Dr Dhananjay, Brahmavar Vyavasaya Seva Sahakari Sangha president Birti Rajesh Shetty, advocate Baikady Suprasad Shetty, SMS Community Hall trustee Lucas Dias, and Rotary secretaries Sudarshan Udupa and Rexine were present during the inaugural ceremony.
