Over 30 killed in Pakistan train bombing

Islamabad, May 25: More than 30 people were killed in a bomb blast targeting a train in Pakistan, officials said on Monday, in one of the deadliest railway attacks reported in the country in recent months.

According to officials, the explosion struck a passenger train while it was travelling through a sensitive region, causing severe damage to multiple coaches and triggering panic among passengers.

Rescue teams, security personnel and railway authorities rushed to the spot and launched evacuation and relief operations. Several injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals, with authorities fearing the death toll could rise further due to the critical condition of some victims.

Officials said an investigation had been launched to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible for the attack.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing. However, Pakistan has witnessed repeated attacks on security forces, trains and public infrastructure in recent years, particularly in insurgency-hit regions.

Security across railway stations and transport routes has reportedly been heightened following the incident.

Senior government officials condemned the attack and vowed strict action against those behind it.
