Bangkok, May 25: The Thai Kannada Balaga (TKB) successfully hosted its grand cultural celebration, ‘Ugadi Habbada Sambhrama 2026,’ at the grand ballroom, Rembrandt Hotel, Bangkok, bringing together the Kannada community and Indian families across Thailand for a vibrant day filled with culture, tradition, entertainment, and togetherness.
The celebration was graced by distinguished dignitaries including R Muthu and family, counsellor at the Embassy of India, Bangkok, along with Dr Chaitanya Yogi, director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial diya, symbolising prosperity and new beginnings. The auspicious lamp was lit by R Muthu and his wife, Dr Chaitanya Yogi, and TKB president Muthu and secretory Priyadarshini Shamanth, marking the graceful inauguration of the event amidst warm applause and festive enthusiasm.






























































































The day started with TKB president Muthu giving welcome remarks and quoting the achievements of TKB committee since its current tenure.
The cultural segment began with a heartfelt tribute marking 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram,’ beautifully presented by members of the Thai Kannada Balaga family. The patriotic performance created an emotional and proud atmosphere, celebrating India’s rich heritage and unity through music.
The event was wonderfully hosted by Chandana and Michael, whose engaging and energetic compering kept the audience entertained and connected throughout the programme.
A special attraction of the event was the mesmerising guest performance presented by artistes from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre. The audience was captivated by the elegant presentation of ‘Seduction of Mohini’ in Thai dance form, performed by Agrindra Lirajendra, Chantima Kittichaisupap, also featured a graceful Bharatanatyam performance by Dr Vinaya.
This year’s celebration embraced a lively retro theme, and attendees enthusiastically arrived dressed in colorful retro-inspired outfits, transforming the venue into a nostalgic celebration of timeless Kannada music, fashion, and memories.
One of the key highlights of the day was the insightful presentation on the significance of Ugadi delivered by Jagannath, beautifully connecting tradition and culture with the younger generation.
Traditional festive refreshments added authentic festive flavour to the event, with heartfelt appreciation extended to:

• Sakshi Shanbhag for serving refreshing Panaka
• Suma Jagannath for arranging Ellu Bella
The cultural performances such as singing, kids drama and entertainment segments kept the audience engaged throughout the day. The energetic Retro Couple Dance and the lively Retro Kannada Jamming Session emerged as crowd-favorite attractions, filling the ballroom with applause, singing, and celebration.
The celebration concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Kiran, expressing gratitude to all guests, performers, volunteers, sponsors, participants, and organising members who contributed to the grand success of the event.
